Excited to announce that it is finally time to get planting! The event will be starting Saturday 16th March at 11am and will be on site until around 4pm, and as always bring good clothing, maybe some tools and a bunch of woodland spirit!

The Melting Pot Collective will be at the riverside to give you all and the public some amazing multicultural sounds while you plant the trees Please come down, listen to some great music and help the team put the finishing touches to such a lengthy but lovely project! We would like to take this moment to thank everybody that has dug, hammered, carried, wheeled, planted, nurtured, fed, watered, sweat all along the way! THANK YOU 💓

Due to Wednesdays wet weather, we will be meeting saturday the 8th and Sunday the 9th at 10:00, on site at the riverside!
The day tomorrow will start with morning meditation to ease into our morning and afternoon together (for anyone who wants to take part - no pressure), instructed by the wonderful Lucy (President of the Buddhist Society) Please wrap up warm and bring hit drinks, water and something for the picnic break! Alright folks! Wednesday we are at it again The weather tomorrow seems like it wants to be horrendous, and if this is the case we will cancel. you will have the final decision at 10 tomorrow latest . We will meet on the 6/2/2018 at 13:30 at the riverside for habitat creation, and hopefully finishing the path. If anyone has a spade or a saw please bring one, we are in dire need! and if you do, maybe a piece of tape and a name on it would be a good idea. We will meet at 13:30 at the riverside for habitat creation, and begin to construct a footpath to escape them muddy areas. Willow will also be planted along the wetter parts at the bottom of the hill, along the river. This will aid in taking up the excess water that currently spills onto the walkway! See you in the park! Come along to St Cyrus to help plant a coastal forest!
Learn about native species and the potential they hold in environmental management. Minibus will leave from Sir Duncan Rice Library at 09:15. Bring with you suitable clothing, footwear and some light snacks. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. 10:00 - Pancakes with a salted caramel banana sauce, tea, coffee etc. 13:00 - Coconut lentil spiced soup, with lime and coriander. Sign up will be this Friday, 15 February, union brew, The Hub, Elphinstone Rd, Aberdeen AB24 3TU, between 10-11, where Irene will collect your £3 to go towards fuel and lunch! Only 15 places available FIRST COME FIRST SERVED! This Wednesday will be the first meeting in a series of events to lead up to tree planting!
We will be meeting at 2:30pm to visit the site where we will be planting the trees at the end of March. This will include a talk about the species we will be receiving and sourcing out the best possible spaces to plant them! Please meet at the entrance to the park at Wallace Tower (Tillydrone Avenue). Remember to wear suitable warm clothing, sturdy footwear and to bring any drinks or snacks with yourselves! See you at the park! Woodland, Marine and Conservation Societies' are partnering up for a litter pick along the River Don, Aberdeen.
We will start off beside Lidl, 739 King St, Aberdeen AB24 1XZ, at 11am and work our way up the river toward the Persley bridge and make our back down the other side of the river. Gloves provided. Try bring reusable bags so that we can reduce the number of black bags used. There will be a strong chance of seeing the bird community that lives along the river and a small chance of seeing otters or their field signs. Weather and mood dependent, once back at Seaton Park, we will be playing games in the park. We will be combining a day trip out to Den Wood which is currently managed by Ross Watson of the Woodland Trust!
This will also include a talk on creating a management plan, winter tree identification with Dr. Louise Page and some work on invasive species clearance accompanied by lunch around a camp fire. There are opportunities by attending to be involved in future workshops including the creation of artistic educational signs, footpath maintenance and under-storey planting.
